the building flip can help to infuse car culture into the ordinary parking garage. the parking garage is normally a place of stasis. you park your car and you leave. the car becomes immobile, useless. thru the power of the flip, the static car park can become a motorist’s haven, providing bedrooms above the automobile that you climb into, record players and speakers to listen to your music while you lounge in your car, screens for you to watch movies on (reminiscent of old drive-in movie theaters), and even a mirror ball to have your own dance parties in adjacent empty parking spots.

car culture car park(2007) is a stop motion film made using paper and chipboard for car culture carpark, outlining the proposed transformations of a garage at the ministry of finance in brussels. made at the bartlett faculty of the built environment.
